Characterization Reflector - Devon Blog #3

Anna- Anna is the main character of the book. She's important to the book because she gets into an accident that kills her brothers girlfriend, which is what the whole book is about. So far through out the book, she blames herself for killing Cameron. On page 139, you see Anna blaming herself when her brother Jack says "You didn't kill Cameron" then Anna replies "Yes, I did". This shows how Anna is blaming herself even though everyone is telling her it wasn't her fault. Also, on page 141, you see how the accident really affects Anna when her therapist tells her "You have something called post-traumatic stress disorder." This shows you what kind of person Anna is because even though the accident wasn't her fault she is still taking the blame for it and is being affected badly by it. This shows you that she's a caring person because most people who get in an accident with a drunk driver when it's the other drivers fault don't believe it's their fault.

Ellen- Ellen is another important character of the book. She was in the car with Anna when Anna got into the accident. Ellen is also Anna's best friend. Ellen is a very honest person. Ellen is important to the book because she's the one who comes foreword and tells Anna that somethings wrong with her, as everyone else denies it. On page 132 Ellen tells Anna "But also you're really messed up". This shows how Ellen is an honest person, because no one else really has the guts to tell Anna something is wrong with her.
